The black line in the back seems much longer than the one in the front because your brain assumes it is seeting the effects of perspective. When the background is removed, the lines are seen to be equal.

Scratch regression. - Kal
I need to vent.. Borders sent an "acception" (what the hell!?), but then went on to specify that they would further look at available jobs of a teenage stature to suit me in the future. I hate waiting.
So here's another childish rant..if you disagree than explain why..
1. Hip Hop isn't music.
Yes it is.
It's just talking fast.
I hate it when people stereotype music in the dumbest ways. "Asian music sucks because they emulate the west" is just one example of how ignorant you could be. The subcategory of rap is more than just babbling about cars, guns, and drugs(unless you just listen to the radio.. psh.. like Ashlee Simpson is any better). If you expanded your horizon and listened to rappers like Nas, Will Smith, and Canibus..then you'd understand that there are SUBGENRES in the subcategory itself. In fact, hip hop is an outlet for poetry.. ex: Nas - Heaven, EMPD - Business As Usual
From socio-cultural lyrics like religious fundamentalism to thought provoking lyrics, rap breaks boundaries that other genres of music couldn't achieve. It's no wonder that Hip Hop has become a soapbox for the intellectually stimulated. Saying rap is all about "Black On Black" violence is the same as saying Rock sucks because it's too out of control.
The beats are made by freakin computers!
Saying that is the rock equivalent of "My guitar is electric, therefore it must not be real music." Hmm.. rhythm, heart, phonograph, and audio mixers. Sounds like all the elemental components of music to me. OH WAIT. except melody. But doesn't the beat take care of that? Might as well run the virtuoso over for leading the symphony because he isn't actually PLAYING the instruments. He merely guides them. How is computer generated music any different? It takes musical creativity to produce beats like Kanye West. A composer will write musical notes.. a hip hop producer uses the same fundamentals to create a beat. How can the beat, not be considered "real music?"
The beat is real music, but the guy is just rapping..no melody
If you really looked into hip hop, the real rappers will write something provocative..something so lyrically inclined to stimulate you mentally. That is the job of music, isn't it? So how can it not be music? Genres such as Classical music have definitely broken boundaries, but not of the same kind. You will never find the same, profound impact of lyrics if used in a rock song then a rap song. You might find it profound, but not in the same way.
Asian music sucks because it totally originated from Western music
Mainstream asian music has capitalized on western music, but it has turned it into something else entirely. Asian music is the filter. It's crafty, intellectual, and divine. In the West, much of the music is composed by lazy singers who digitally alter their voice and idiotic songwriters (Lil Jon anyone?). Asian music has it's faults, but at least they have more real talent then most mainstream artists(in America) right now.
Pop music sucks..it's too "Goody Goody"
Since when do people who can actually sing, get the shaft because they are "goody goody?" Thats no better than saying rap sucks because its too violent. Pop music is pretty provocative too, and shouldn't be demeaned just because of Britney Spears/Madonna.
try Savage Garden's "Affirmation" cd or Dido's "Life For Rent"(not exactly pop, but close enough)
Television sucks, it's all reality shows
What the hell? How can people knock television? You're telling me that when you were little, you didn't watch television at least ONCE? TV gave us a perception of reality and the things around us. Without the tv's ability to help us preconcieve the things around us(to help us understand it), we would've walked the world more ignorant than our forefathers. Do you think comedy would be the same without live action? Hell no.. I'd definitely want a visual splendor to accompany my reading adaptation(sometimes vice versa).
Books suck. They are too descriptive and a waste of time. Watching the movie is easier
As crazy as it sounds, 5 people told me that books suck today. There is more information in books than any other type of media. Music is limited.. television is limited.. but books are not. Books can have sad endings, bad thoughts, and more philosophical content than you can conjure(seriously..try reading Doors Of Perception or Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep). Sometimes you can't just have visuals and audio. Books have texture. They have feeling and enrich our very lives.
Friend: Is faith--the supreme assertion of human thought--desirable? Then must the mind of man find itself in that troublesome predicament where it ever knows less than it can believe.
No, I think you should check your definition of faith.. the assertion of human thought is more mandatory than desirable.
If mankind's ultimate desire was to be happy, then the tradeoff would be free will.. would it be worth it?
Err.. not that God would allow us to be mindless drones who are happy all the time, but out of the two..I choose free will. Suffering and conscience is better than blind happiness.
Ex: To be almost braindead like insects yet still be happy, is not something I could conciously accept.
Even though God is obviously above things such as the concept of free will, I think it's vital to his plan anyway. Otherwise we wouldn't have it right? ;)

Yeah.. I know. This isn't really what a journal entry should be..but a lot of people are complaining that LJ is turning into a wasteland so I'm tryin to do something interesting..
Anybody disagree?

Got Home:
I read "Jesus/What He Really Said And Did." The author believes that Jesus was not really who he claimed to be, but just an ordinary human who was exceptionally knowledgeable. Stephen Mitchell(author) believes that Jesus saw that people were not believing in God, so Jesus claimed that he was this Messiah and ultimately succeeded in restoring faith. Somewhat interesting viewpoint =/ --------------------------------- Went To Friend's House:
We pretty much hung out and talked about some serious discussions for a total of 1 1/2 hours(we're nerds).
He is f'ing obsessed with the Stargate: Atlantis tv series(which at first I thought was unappealing).. so we watched a few episodes on his VCR and then I had to leave.. --------------------------------- Went Back Home:
I basically wrote an outline for this short story, listened to music(John Mayer, Kanye West, Sonicflood, Jimmy Eat World, Green Day, Dave Brubeck, and some Nas), and watched the sunset(I was bored).
